Aurora depends on our amazing volunteers’ time, resources, knowledge and effort within the community, and we appreciate every little bit. There are all sorts of ways to help before, after, and during!

• Rangers
  Roving around the burn throughout the weekend you’ll find rangers, ready to lend a hand and keep everyone having a safe and fun time. This role is both social and practical, usually with lots of walking around and chats.

• Setup and Pack down
  Helping the event team set up and pack down infrastructure on site, like Center Hub, Site HQ, toilets, roads, lighting, and all that important stuff.
  
• Kitchen
  These volunteers help keep the other vollie troops fed and communal kitchen clean during setup, packdown, and during the weekend as well. If you think you could make a group meal, even one, it helps!
  
• Gate
  The first friendly face people meet as they arrive, Gate volunteers are responsible for checking tickets, wristbanding, and double checking that people have everything they need for the weekend.
  
• Greeters
  Greeting suit outgoing, bubbly volunteers, or those ready to push their boundaries by giving everyone a heartfelt welcome. They are just after Gate and focus on creating a memorable or emotional greeting after the admin is taken care of at Gate.
  
• Fire Perimeter Crew
  This team are extremely important while things are on fire! During the burning of a structure or artwork, these champions need to stay sober and alert in order to create a safe perimeter for the crowds around the fire.
  
• Effigy and Temple Team
  These volunteers help build the effigy and the temple. You don’t need construction experience as there are many jobs that are involved in building these epic structures.

While we do love a spontaneous volunteer signup during the burn (go to Centre Hub and sign up for a shift if you’re struck by the notion or have a few hours to spare!), it also helps to know ahead of time that people are interested and ready to help. Throughout the year, the PACT committee and various working groups are also entirely volunteers.
